The Russian consulate in Moldova’s capital will cease operations starting August 15, following the Moldovan government’s demand that Russia reduces its staff by two-thirds, aligning their numbers with the number of employees at the Moldovan Embassy in Moscow. Chisinau justified this decision by citing Russia’s alleged numerous unfriendly actions and attempts to destabilize Moldova’s domestic political situation.
