The president of Georgia’s breakaway region of Abkhazia resigned days after protesters opposed a planned investment agreement with Russia that occupied a complex of government buildings. Aslan Bzhania, who came to power in early 2020 after the former president, Raul Khajimba, was ousted, agreed to step down early Tuesday on the condition that protesters leave buildings that include the parliament.
