Russia

Russia launched an attack on one of Ukraine’s largest Danube River ports using drones, intensifying the pressure on Ukraine’s final major grain export route and the global food trade. Reni, along with Izmail, is one of Ukraine’s main river ports for grain and is located on the Danube at the border with Romania. Local traders had been increasing capacity there in response to Russia’s sea blockade. This action represents the latest in a series of Russian maneuvers to impede Ukrainian exports following the collapse of the Black Sea grain deal last week. Consequently, wheat prices surged again.
