Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner mercenary group and a former ally of Russian president Vladimir Putin, has halted his advancement towards Moscow and directed his forces to retreat to their bases in an attempt to avoid further conflict. Prigozhin, a critic of Russia’s military strategy in Ukraine, is set to move to Belarus as part of a deal to conclude the mutiny without facing prosecution.
