Serbia

Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic announced the country will hold early elections amid ongoing opposition protests accusing him of fostering a “culture of violence” and suppressing democracy. The president did not specify when these elections, which would be the third since 2020, would take place. The anti-government coalition has staged protest marches in Belgrade, bringing tens of thousands of Serbs to the streets. The protests primarily criticize the Vucic administration for suppressing opposition and non-compliant media voices and for its alleged tolerance of corruption.
