An op-ed in Al Jazeera urged the World Bank to reassess its support for Tajikistan’s Rogun dam project and conduct a new impact assessment, including alternative proposals, citing significant social and environmental risks. Despite these concerns, the World Bank’s IDA approved a USD 350mln grant for the project.
