Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner mercenary group, threatened to withdraw his troops from Bakhmut by May 10th. The eastern Ukrainian town has experienced intense fighting for over ten months. In a scathing video, Mr. Prigozhin complained that Russian defense officials failed to supply his troops with adequate ammunition. Without more bullets, he warned, “everything will crumble.” Separately, Russia and Cuba signed an MoU to enhance Russian investment in the island’s energy, tourism, food production, mining, and civil aviation sectors. On the battlefront, there is renewed panic surrounding the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, with the head of the IAEA expressing “extreme concern.”
