Colombia

Colombia’s trade deficit declined to USD 1.4 bln in March, down from USD 2.1 bln in the same month of the prior year. Imports contracted by 17.1% YoY, reaching the lowest level since 2021 while exports fell by 10%, driven by a decrease in shipments of fuels and goods from extractive industries, agricultural products, and manufactured goods. Separately, Peace discussions between the National Liberation Army (ELN) and the Colombian government are on a halt, according to rebel leader Pablo Beltran. The pause stems from president Petro’s comments questioning the rebel delegation’s ability to influence their field commanders.
