Colombia

The Colombian government and the National Liberation Army (ELN) guerrillas kickstarted a fresh round of peace talks in Venezuela, marking the fourth such discussion since president Petro reopened dialogues in November 2022. These peace negotiations, scheduled to run until September 4 in Caracas, aim to address Colombia’s over five-decade-long challenges of left-wing guerilla warfare, right-wing paramilitaries, and drug trafficking networks.
