Colombia

According to Colombian president Petro, a legislative bill to improve Colombian worker rights failed to pass through Congress. Economic think tank Fedesarrollo and other analysts had cautioned that this could increase the number of people working informally without official contracts. The failure of the bill was due to insufficient lawmaker attendance at the vote. This bill was part of president Petro’s ambitious plan to reform Colombia’s economic model, which includes measures to increase state participation in pension and health care provisions, which are still under debate in Congress.
