International visitors to Costa Rica have declined for the sixth consecutive month, with February 2025 showing a 7% drop YoY. The Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT) reports 592k tourists in Jan-Feb, a 4% decrease from last year. European visitors saw a notable decline of 10.5%. Analysts attribute the drop to two factors: the overvaluation of the CRC, making Costa Rica more expensive, and rising crime concerns. Despite strong economic growth, complaints about the appreciated currency from tradable sectors have been ongoing.
