The WFP announced a historic funding crisis, which has forced the organization to make significant cuts to its food assistance programs. That could drive an additional 24 mln people toward starvation in the upcoming year. The funding gap stands at over 60%, and currently, 345 million people worldwide face acute food insecurity, including 40 mln at risk of malnutrition-related death, especially in Africa. This statistic has doubled since 2020.
