Egypt is ramping up diplomatic efforts in the Horn of Africa and Red Sea region to enhance security and recover from a 60% drop in Suez Canal revenues, which have fallen by USD 7 bln due to shipping disruptions from attacks by Yemen’s Houthi group. President al-Sisi has engaged with leaders from Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, the Republic of the Congo, Kenya, and Chad to discuss counterterrorism and trade cooperation.
