Kenya

Kenya’s National Assembly approved a 104.68 bln shilling increase to the 2024-25 budget. The additional spending will go toward salaries and addressing shortfalls caused by cuts in donor funding. Recurrent expenditure will rise by 138.56 bln shillings, while capital spending will be reduced by 33.88 bln shillings, potentially leading to more pending bills and stalled projects. This reduction could result in cost overruns as delays and interruptions often increase the overall cost of development projects.
