Kenya

Kenya central bank lowered its estimate for economic expansion in 2023 to 5.8%, down from the previous estimate of 6.1%, due to an anticipated reduction in farm output. Agriculture output is expected to increase by 4.4%, compared to an earlier forecast of 5.6%. The economy is forecast to grow by 5.6% YoY in Q1 2023. Meanwhile, the country’s food inflation is rising after hot and dry weather in February and early March limited food supply. However, price pressures are expected to ease with improved rainfall in April and May.
