Kenya

Kenya maintains optimism regarding continued support from the IMF, as its chief praised the nation’s economic recovery plan. The IMF is anticipated to disburse USD 300 mln to Kenya upon completion of its review. An IMF staff team will visit Nairobi in the coming weeks to assess Kenya’s performance under a three-year USD 2.4 bln loan program. In April, the fund increased Kenya’s SDRs quota allocation, permitting additional financing to tackle its economic challenges. Kenya’s economic growth fell to 4.8% in 2022, a decline from 7.6% the previous year.
