Kenya is in talks with the AfDB to obtain around USD 80.6 mln to bridge its budget deficit for the ongoing fiscal year. This initiative follows Kenya’s decision to cut domestic borrowing, favoring foreign concessional loans. Meanwhile, Kenya is negotiating with the World Bank for budget support through the development policy operation. If agreed upon, it’ll be Kenya’s sixth time using this service, having secured USD 4.25 bln since 2019.
