Mauritius revised its economic-growth forecast down to 5.1% for 2024 from 6.5% following an audit that revealed miscalculations in the previous government’s budget. The fiscal deficit is now projected to be 48.5 bln rupees (USD 1 bln) for the year through June 2025, nearly double the previous estimate of 26.8 bln rupees. The deficit for 2024-25 is expected to be 6.7% of GDP, up from the prior 3.4%.
