In response to water scarcity, surging inflation, and the need for tourism support, Morocco government is set to provide an extra USD 1 bln in budget funds. This move follows a previous budget expansion of USD 1.1 bln last year. The severe drought in 2022 and supply chain disruptions adversely impacted agricultural output, which accounts for nearly 12% of Morocco’s GDP, causing essential food items to become scarce, triggering inflation, and squeezing the public’s spending capacity. The World Bank forecasts a 3.5% economic growth for Morocco in 2023.
