Morocco’s central bank held its benchmark interest rate at 3.0%, citing a slowdown in inflation to a nearly two-year low. The bank projects consumer-price growth to be 2.4% in 2024, down from the previous estimate of 2.6%. The country is preparing for significant investments in infrastructure, including football stadium upgrades for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup it will co-host with nations including Spain and Portugal. The regulator projects remittances will rise to 120 bln dirhams in 2025, compared to 112.4 bln dirhams this year. Tourism is expected to net 112.4 bln dirhams compared with 106 bln dirhams.
