Mozambican police used teargas to disperse reporters interviewing opposition candidate VenĂ¢ncio Mondlane, who called for protests after the murder of his lawyer and alleged election rigging in the Oct. 9 elections. Provisional election results, due by Oct. 24, indicate the ruling Mozambique Liberation Front is likely to extend its 49-year rule, with candidate Daniel Chapo expected to win over two-thirds of the vote.
