Rwanda’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 16.1% in June from 14.8% in May, the highest reading since 2009. Meanwhile, Rwandan leader Paul Kagame, who has been in power since the 1994 genocide, said that he may rule for another twenty years. Kagame changed the constitution in 2015, allowing him to stay until 2034. The next presidential election is due in 2024.
