KFW, Germany’s development bank, has offered a EUR 200 mln loan to South Africa’s Eskom Holdings to bolster its power transmission grid in Northern and Western Cape provinces. This loan is part of a USD 8.5 bln energy transition pact involving several countries and is pending approval from Eskom and the National Treasury. South Africa plans to build approximately 1,400 km of transmission lines yearly through 2030 to meet its energy requirements.
