Planned spending on capital projects in South Africa plunged by more than 35% last year as the state scaled back expenditure, and the downswing is likely to continue this year. Economists at Nedbank expect growth in spending to continue to slow this year, as downward pressure exerted by electricity shortages is likely to hamper demand.
