The IMF approved a $1.05bln ECF loan package to assist Tanzania’s economic recovery and support structural reforms against the backdrop of rising prices and uncertainty due to spillovers from Russia’s war with Ukraine. Under a 40-month credit facility, the IMF approved to disburse $561.5mln immediately. The fund forecasts the country’s economy to expand by 4.7% this year, compared with 4.9% in 2021. Separately, the AfDB will provide $73.5mln to boost Tanzania’s food production.
