Turkish president Erdogan and Israeli PM Netanyahu are set to meet as early as next month to improve the strained relations between their countries. After a decade of tensions, Turkey and Israel are collaborating more on tourism and business and exploring potential gas shipments to Turkey. Both nations have concerns about Iran’s influence in the region and see improving their relationship as a strategic move, especially in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. However, they still have differences over the status of Palestinian territories and Israel’s accusation of Turkey’s support for Hamas. Increasing bilateral trade and tourism, along with a possible gas agreement, may help to mend ties between the two nations.
