The foreign ministers of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger are set to visit Moscow for the first talks between their newly created confederation and Russia. The Sahelian countries, led by juntas that took power in recent coups, have shifted away from France and aligned more closely with Russia, engaging in defense agreements and military equipment supply with Moscow, as well as cooperating on energy and mining.
